Candidates suited to this role need to be experienced in the following:

  • Proven experience in automotive sectors and precision engineering.
  • Knowledge of diesel fuel injection systems, test environments, and diesel engines.
  • Solid understanding of the fundamentals of dimensional metrology and best practices.
  • Proven experience with surface finish measurement, such as Zygo, Alicona, Taylor Hobson.
  • Experience with visual and imaging inspection technologies, contact and optical 3D metrology equipment.

Candidates would also possess:

  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance) specifications.
  • Experience with writing measurement programmes and process automation.
  • Programming skills using Matlab, Python, and VBA.
  • Experience in management of a small team and ability to manage a large number of projects in parallel.

You should have gained a degree in either metrology or a precision engineering discipline; those that hold an NPL dimensional measurement certificate would be considered advantageous.

Responsibilities include:

  • To carry out dimensional and surface measurement according to design specifications.
  • Producing detailed inspection reports, leading inspection methods, measurement processes, and continuous quality improvement.
  • You must have experience supervising junior engineers.
