HRGO is excited to be recruiting for a longstanding client who is expanding into the Blairgowrie region with a new Depot opening Spring 2026. As part of the expansion, we are recruiting for a Field Sales Representative to assist with business development for their Northern Scotland division. The ideal candidate will come from the Industrial Machinery / Construction / Agri industry.
Role Summary
Responsible for growing sales and service revenue for a construction equipment range within an assigned territory, through face-to-face customer visits, equipment demonstrations and close collaboration with the service team. This is a largely field-based role, spending most of the time on the road visiting customers and sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow sales across an assigned territory for new and used construction equipment, attachments and related services.
- Conduct regular on-site visits to contractors, plant hire firms, and other key accounts to maintain relationships and identify new opportunities.
- Arrange and carry out equipment demonstrations and site visits to showcase product capability and suitability.
- Prepare quotations, tenders and proposals; negotiate pricing and terms within agreed guidelines to close deals.
- Work closely with the service/after-sales team to ensure smooth installations, commissioning, maintenance and repairs.
- Proactively prospect and generate new leads via cold visits, calls, referrals, trade events and local networking.
- Maintain accurate records of visits, opportunities and pipeline in the CRM system; provide regular activity and forecast reports.
- Stay up to date with product knowledge, competitor offerings and market trends.
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety, site rules and company policies when visiting customer premises and construction sites.
Required Qualifications & Experience (Must Have)
- Proven B2B field sales experience, ideally within construction equipment, plant hire, agricultural machinery, materials handling or similar.
- Valid driving licence and willingness to spend the majority of time on the road due to the nature of the Field Sales Representative role.
- Track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Confident in dealing with site managers, business owners and commercial decision-makers.
- Comfortable using CRM systems and basic MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Preferred Qualifications & Experience (Nice to Have)
- Direct experience selling construction equipment or related services (e.g. maintenance contracts, extended warranties).
- Existing network within the local construction, civil engineering or plant hire market.
- Basic mechanical understanding of heavy equipment and how it is used/maintained.
- Experience working closely with service / workshop teams to manage after-sales issues.

- Self-motivated, target-driven and comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy.
Working Conditions & Travel
- Field-based role with approximately 70% of time spent visiting customers and sites within Northern Scotland.
- Regular driving; occasional early starts and later finishes to meet customer needs.
- Some overnight stays may be required depending on territory size and customer locations.
- Frequent visits to active construction sites and yards; use of PPE (e.g. safety boots, hi-vis, hard hat) required.
Base salary: Up to £45k per annum, dependent on experience. Performance-related bonus/commission scheme based on sales and margin targets. (OTE being £65k - £70k) Company vehicle plus fuel expenses. Company mobile phone, laptop/tablet and necessary PPE.
