Our client is the market-leading rental provider of excavation support, supplying specialist equipment to customers worldwide. We are looking for a skilled and hands-on Hydraulic Fitter to join our busy depot team. In this role, you will take a key part in inspecting, servicing and maintaining Groundforce's hydraulic equipment and depot assets to the highest quality standards. You will also support your line manager in delivering excellent customer service and ensuring all depot activities are carried out safely, efficiently and accurately, in line with company policies and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in the depot under instruction from the Depot Foreman/Leading Hand to prepare hydraulic equipment ready for hire
- Liaise with your line manager to understand customer requirements and ensure the highest level of service is maintained
- Inspect, service and repair hydraulic hire equipment and depot assets in line with your competency level and company procedures
- Attend breakdowns of Groundforce hydraulic equipment on customer sites to inspect, service and repair where safe and competent to do so
- Where required, inspect, service and repair other specified hire equipment and depot assets, following company policies and processes
- Use pneumatic and electrical hand tools (full in-house training provided)
- Keep up-to-date and accurate service and inspection records at all times
- Identify and record damage and out-of-service equipment
- Drive counter-balance or multi-directional forklift trucks to load/unload vehicles and move, prepare and store equipment (training provided)
- Use a pressure washer to clean equipment
- Ensure stock levels are accurately maintained and equipment quality meets company standards
- Maintain a positive attitude towards Health, Safety and the Environment, reporting any issues to your supervisor
- Keep your working area clean, safe and tidy at all times
- Occasionally drive the depot van
- Carry out any other duties within your skills and competence as required to support the smooth running of the business.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems and the ability to fault-find
- Ability to complete records and paperwork accurately
- Capability to use scanners, PDAs, tablets and computers
- A reasonable level of physical fitness
- Flexible, trustworthy and reliable, with excellent timekeeping
- Valid full, clean driving licence
Preferable:
- Customer service experience
- Knowledge of shoring commercial operations
- Experience in the construction, housing or civil engineering industries
- Knowledge of the shoring/hire industry
- Mechanical experience (advantageous but not essential)
