We are looking for a reliable and hardworking individual to join our team as a Seasonal Park Keeper within the Local Authority. This role involves ensuring the daily maintenance and upkeep of Folkestone's parks and open spaces, creating a safe and enjoyable environment for the public. The ideal candidate will have a full driving licence and some experience in grounds maintenance tasks such as hedge trimming, mowing, and litter picking. You must be reliable, flexible, and a standard DBS check will be carried out. Previous employment & character references will be obtained. Full availability during the busy season (April to September) is essential.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
- Drive company vehicles as required.
- Engage with the public in a professional and calm manner.
- Litter picking, waste management, and safe disposal.
- Maintain public toilets in the Coastal Park and East Cliff.
- Garden maintenance - weeding, pruning, hedge cutting, strimming, and planting.
- Sand area upkeep - raking, filling holes, and clearing paths with a blower.
- Assist in the setup and take-down of special events.
- Help maintain the park's infrastructure, such as playgrounds, benches, and pathways.
- Monitor the park for safety issues and report concerns.
What We’re Looking For
- A calm and mature approach to handling difficult situations.
- A valid standard DBS check on the update service or willingness to apply.
- Reliability and ability to work independently for extended periods.
- Knowledge of gardening/landscaping is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills and team spirit.
