Location: Folkestone

Type & Hours: Temporary ongoing (approximately 6 months) Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm (30-minute lunch) - 40 hours per week. Starting ASAP.

This is a hands-on role for a Multi-Skilled Engineer who enjoys getting stuck in, working with modern machinery and being the go-to person when the line needs a hero.

Key responsibilities:

  • Keep high-speed processing and packaging lines running through PPM, fault-finding and reactive repairs.
  • Track down and resolve mechanical and electrical faults on automated equipment.
  • Strip, rebuild and re-align mechanical components; change bearings, gearboxes, conveyors and ancillaries.
  • Carry out electrical troubleshooting, wiring, motor and control component replacement and testing.
  • Get involved in improvement projects, upgrades and new equipment installs.
  • Keep accurate maintenance records and champion health & safety on shift.
  • Work closely with production and engineering to smash downtime targets and boost reliability.

Essential skills & qualifications:

  • Strong experience in an automated FMCG environment.
  • Hands-on experience with processing and packaging machinery.
  • Mechanical qualification: City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
  • Electrical qualification: City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
  • Confident mechanical and electrical fault-finding on automated plant.
  • Great communicator and team player who can stay calm under pressure.
  • Flexible approach to shifts if required.

Desirable:

  • Experience with PLCs, drives and basic control systems.
  • Experience installing and commissioning new equipment.
