About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Seasonal Gardener to join our client's Grounds Maintenance team. You will help maintain parks, open spaces, cemeteries, highways, sports facilities, housing areas, and flower displays to the highest horticultural standards - including Green Flag Award standards. The ideal candidate will have a full driving licence and some experience in grounds maintenance tasks such as hedge trimming, mowing, and litter picking. You must be reliable, flexible, and a standard DBS check will be carried out. Previous employment & character references must be supplied on request. Full availability during the busy season (April to September) is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain grassed areas, hedges, herbaceous borders, flower beds, wildflower areas, shrubs, and rose beds
- Operate and maintain machinery and specialist equipment safely (training provided)
- Carry out site preparation, landscaping, and general gardening tasks
- Complete paperwork and adhere to Council procedures
- Lock buildings and set alarms where necessary
- Work independently or as part of a team across multiple sites
- Ensure work is completed safely, to a high standard, and in line with legislation
- Be fully flexible to work wherever required within the scope of the section
- Ensure vehicles and plant are regularly checked, maintained and used correctly reporting any defects to the team leader or workshop
Skills & Requirements
- Full UK driving licence - essential
- Standard DBS check will be carried out
- Experience or strong interest in grounds maintenance, horticulture, or gardening
- Ability to learn to operate machinery and specialist equipment safely
- Reliable, flexible, and able to work across the district
