Contract: Permanent (temp‑to‑perm)

We are working with a well‑established and growing business that is looking to appoint a Finance Assistant on a temp‑to‑perm basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong finance administration experience and proven Xero knowledge to join a supportive finance team and progress into a permanent position. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting day‑to‑day financial operations, ensuring accuracy across transactional finance and assisting with month‑end processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing purchase and sales invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Performing regular bank reconciliations using Xero
  • Credit control, including chasing outstanding payments
  • Posting journals and assisting with month‑end close processes
  • Maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date financial records
  • Supporting VAT returns and general compliance tasks
  • Responding to supplier and customer finance queries
  • Assisting the wider finance team with ad hoc duties as required

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a finance or accounts assistant role
  • Strong, hands‑on experience using Xero (essential)
  • Good understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Confident using Microsoft Excel and Office packages
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage workload effectively
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach
