We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Field Service Engineer to join our clients dynamic team. Key Responsibilities

Service & Maintenance

  • Work on customers\’ waste processing equipment for both emergency call-outs and planned preventative maintenance.
  • Maximise plant reliability through regular servicing and timely interventions.
  • Perform fault finding and troubleshooting on hydraulics, electrics, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, and various recycling equipment.
  • Assist in the installation of new machines at customer sites.
  • Support all stages of machine builds and refurbishments.
  • Ensure that all work complies with health and safety legislation.

Customer Communication

  • Maintain strong communication with customers to support their current needs.
  • Proactively identify and discuss future equipment requirements with clients.

Hours of Work

You are employed on a full-time basis, and your normal working hours will be 40 hours per week, typically from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Flexibility is required to meet customer availability. If you are required to work over a twelve-hour day during weekdays, you will be paid at time and a half. Work on weekends will be compensated at time and a half for Saturday and double time for Sunday. When overnight visits are necessary, you will be paid for the work up to arriving at the hotel, with the client covering accommodation and subsistence.

Requirements

  • Age Requirement: Minimum age of 21 due to the requirement to drive company vehicles.
  • Driving License: A valid driving license with a maximum of 6 points.
  • Background: No specific industry experience required; however, candidates with an interest in electrical systems or relevant experience will be preferred.
  • Willingness to Learn: A strong desire to learn and develop skills in a hands-on environment.
  • Physical Ability: Capability to work in dirty environments and perform physical tasks as required.

Working Conditions

  • Travel: Initial travel requirements will be less than experienced engineers, averaging around 2 weeks a month as you gain experience and proficiency.
  • Supervision: During the training period, you will work alongside an experienced engineer until comfortable handling tasks independently.
  • Timeline for Independence: The average time to reach an independent working level is approximately 3 months, subject to individual learning pace and training quality.

Training

  • On-the-job training will be provided, along with support toward formal qualifications relevant to the field, which the company will finance.
  • Death in service policy at 4 times your salary.
  • 22 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with additional closure during Christmas.
