We're looking for an experienced Electrical Technician to join the maintenance team, maintaining and improving production equipment and associated electrical control systems. We'd love to hear from candidates with strong industrial controls experience who are keen to develop further with a global, innovative business or highly skilled domestic electricians who wish to transfer to more industrialised work.
Key responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, fault-find and repair electrical and control systems across production and site services equipment.
- Carry out statutory electrical tests and inspections in line with site and legal requirements.
- Work closely with production, engineering and external contractors to prioritise and deliver maintenance work.
- Support, configure and troubleshoot PLC systems (Siemens S7 and Allen Bradley experience advantageous).
- Operate, integrate and maintain SCADA/HMI systems and control instrumentation used for process control.
- Maintain, commission and fault-find variable speed drives (AC and DC) and associated motor control systems.
- Diagnose control and instrumentation faults and implement robust, long-term solutions to minimise downtime.
- Work to safe systems of work, complete risk assessments and ensure compliance with SHE policies and statutory regulations.
- Record and update maintenance activities and asset information using the site Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) where applicable.
- Provide flexible on-site support outside normal working hours when required (e.g. breakdowns, shutdowns, projects).
Key requirements:
- Completed recognised apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience in a similar electrical maintenance role within a manufacturing/industrial environment.
- General working knowledge of PLC systems; Siemens S7 and Allen Bradley would be particularly beneficial but we would also consider candidates with limited experience who have a desire to learn.
- Good understanding of control instrumentation and systems associated with process control, plus sound knowledge of three-phase AC distribution.
- Experience with variable speed drives - both AC and DC.
- Understanding and experience of statutory electrical tests and inspections (or strong willingness to develop).
- Ability to work and communicate effectively within a team.
- Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to provide on-site support outside of normal working hours when required.
