Customs Entry Administrator - Permanent, Full Time - £29,120 per year (£14.00/hour)
Location: Nr Shepton Mallet-Own transport preferable
Reporting to: Customs Compliance Manager
The role
This is a fast-paced, detail-driven admin role at the heart of customs operations. You'll create accurate import/export declarations so goods clear smoothly into the UK-working closely with customers and relevant authorities to make sure every document and system entry is spot on.
What you'll be doing
- Create import and export declarations using CDS and associated customs software
- Submit and manage declarations with HMRC and Philis
- Process CHEDs and POAO declarations (as required)
- Analyse customs/shipping paperwork and extract key details quickly
- Deliver high-accuracy, high-volume data entry under tight deadlines
- Liaise professionally with customers and governing bodies by phone and email
- Work confidently on your own and as part of a team
- Handle sensitive documentation in line with Data Protection requirements
- Use systems including Mandata, SGS, Government Gateway and Philis
- Support with other duties as needed
What we’re looking for
- Required: strong admin skills, confident IT user, excellent accuracy/attention to detail, good numeracy, clear communication, thrives under pressure.
- Desirable: any customs/logistics exposure (not essential).
- No customs experience needed - full training provided.
Hours & flexibility
Full time, typically 08:00-17:00 or 09:00-18:00 (Mon-Fri). Flexible start/finish times for the right person.
Pay & benefits
- £29,120 per year (£14.00/hour)
- £100 time & attendance bonus every 4 weeks
- 28 days holiday (including bank holidays)
- Overtime: time and a quarter (1.25x)
- Double pay on Bank Holiday Mondays if worked
