The successful candidate will set up, operate and optimise 3-axis milling machines using Fanuc or Heidenhain controls, delivering high-quality components to tight tolerances typically on production run type work.

Key responsibilities:
– Set up and operate 3-axis CNC milling machines, performing tool changes, offsets and test cuts
– Work as a setter/operator: read drawings, select fixtures and tooling, perform machine set-ups and first-off inspections
– Monitor production, carry out quality checks and maintain accurate process documentation
– Diagnose and resolve routine machine and program issues; suggest improvements to reduce scrap and cycle time
– Maintain a clean, safe working environment and follow health & safety procedures

Skills and experience required:
– Proven experience as a CNC Miller / Setter-Operator on 3-axis mills
– Proficient with Fanuc or Heidenhain controls
– Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances
– Competent using measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, gauges)
– Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach
– Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
– Relevant apprenticeship or engineering qualification would be an advantage.
– Experience with job planning, setting fixtures and optimising cycle times
– Basic CNC maintenance experience
