CNC Turner (Setter/Operator)
Join a quality-driven machining team producing repeat, conforming components to tight tolerances. This is a hands‑on, stable production role where consistency, standards, and pride in workmanship matter.
The role
As a CNC Turner (Setter/Operator), you'll set and operate FANUC-controlled Nakamura CNC lathes, ensuring parts are produced safely, accurately, and to specification. You'll play a key part in maintaining repeatable processes and supporting continuous improvement‑particularly on new or developing jobs where best practice needs to be defined.
Key responsibilities
- Set and operate CNC turning machines to specification and agreed work instructions
- Measure and inspect parts to confirm conformance prior to first‑off submission
- Produce first‑off batches for First Article approval
- Support first production parts through FAIR and/or PPAP requirements
- Help establish stable, repeatable production (methods, tooling, and supporting documentation)
- Suggest CI ideas and implement approved improvements to quality, efficiency, and consistency
- Communicate clearly with colleagues and relevant departments to maintain flow and standards
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and safe working practices at all times
- Support additional shop‑floor tasks where your skills are required
What we're looking for
Required:
- Proven CNC turning experience at setter/operator level
- Strong quality mindset and ability to work to specifications and instructions
- Able to work to realistic deadlines without compromising standards
Desirable:
- Time‑served engineering apprenticeship
- FANUC control experience
- Experience working to control plans
- 5S / Lean manufacturing exposure
- AS9100 knowledge/experience (advantageous)
