We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Production Manager to join this well-established precision machining, welding, fabrication engineering company located in the Bury St. Edmunds area. The Production Manager will oversee and continuously improve day-to-day manufacturing operations. This is a key role within a well-established manufacturing environment, responsible for ensuring efficient production processes, effective material control, and on-time delivery. The successful candidate will ideally have experience in CNC machining and/or fabrication, along with strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems. This role offers a clear pathway to a future Director-level position following a successful period of service and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Process sales orders accurately into the MRP system.
- Manage materials and stock requirements, preparing purchase orders with appropriate delivery lead times.
- Monitor and maintain production schedules to ensure products are delivered on time.
- Use MRP/ERP systems to track production data, manage orders, and support operational reporting.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to align production plans and resolve workflow issues.
Experience & Skills Required
- Proven experience in a production control or similar manufacturing role (essential).
- Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (training available if required).
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain principles.
- Background in CNC machining and/or fabrication is highly advantageous.
