We are seeking a skilled and motivated Hydraulic Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing hydraulic systems for various projects. This role requires a strong understanding of hydraulic principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Design and develop hydraulic systems and components for various applications.
- Perform hydraulic calculations and simulations to ensure system performance and reliability.
- Design systems for simple HPUs, pipework installations, minor modifications to existing systems, etc.
- Provide support for compiling sales tenders; bills of materials, component pricing, time estimating, etc.
- Produce CAD models of assemblies such as manifolds, pipework installations, and HPUs.
- Create detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications either designed personally or sketched out by others.
- Check system designs, schematics, manifolds designs, and calculations produced by others prior to manufacture or release to customers.
- Collaborate with the senior hydraulic project solutions manager, electrical & controls project solutions manager and project managers to integrate hydraulic systems into overall project designs.
- Conduct testing and validation of hydraulic systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hydraulic systems during the design, implementation & commissioning phases.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Write the sections of operation and maintenance manuals relating to the hydraulic parts of the system.
- Produce maintenance works instructions for the site service engineers to follow when on site or in the workshop.
- Provide support and training to workshop technicians when assembling, testing and commissioning hydraulic equipment (complete systems, components and/or sub-systems).
- Write commissioning and other test documents and lead the commissioning of hydraulic systems at the clients site.
Qualifications:
- Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in hydraulic system design and engineering.
- Previously experience, or significant knowledge of open loop hydraulic systems.
- Previous experience of closed loop hydraulic systems a bonus.
- Familiarity with ISO 4413, ISO 1219, etc.
- Proficiency in hydraulic design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Knowledge of Hydrosym hydraulic system schematic software and Mathcad is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic principles, fluid dynamics, and system components.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
