An opportunity has arisen to join a specialist hazardous waste treatment, transfer, and logistics business within its Technical Sales Support function. The Technical Assessor acts as the key interface between commercial and operations teams, ensuring waste enquiries are accurately assessed, compliant, and correctly routed for treatment and disposal. This role is ideal for someone with a chemistry background who enjoys problem-solving, technical assessment, and working across multiple departments in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Key Requirements

  • HNC (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline (essential)
  • Previous experience in hazardous waste or a regulated waste environment (desirable)

Key Responsibilities

Waste Assessment & Compliance

  • Carry out technical assessment of waste enquiries in line with WM3 guidance and site procedures
  • Ensure pre-acceptance information, including sampling where required, is complete and compliant
  • Accurately record all waste-related data for quoting, transport, and acceptance purposes

Route & Disposal Management

  • Understand site processing capabilities to ensure correct waste routing
  • Identify and recommend suitable disposal options for packaged and bulk waste
  • Ensure all quotations comply with environmental permits and waste management licences
  • Work to defined KPIs and compliance standards

Sample Analysis & Documentation

  • Liaise with internal and external laboratories regarding sample analysis and waste acceptance requirements

System Accuracy & Issue Resolution

  • Ensure accurate pricing of waste loads
  • Identify and communicate non-conformances to the sales team
  • Provide practical solutions to resolve compliance issues and prevent recurrence

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Work closely with Sales, Operations, Transport, and Laboratory teams
  • Advise on transport requirements, labelling, and consignment documentation
  • Support customer account administration and invoicing queries
  • Coordinate booking of materials with internal operations and external partners
  • Maintain a high level of service delivery to customers and stakeholders
