Hours: 07:45am-17:00pm Mon-Thurs, 07:45am-13:00pm Friday
We are seeking a Stores Operative to play a vital role in supporting the storage and logistics requirements of our clients busy manufacturing operation. This position involves managing inventory processes—ordering, receiving, picking, packing, issuing, and dispatching—while maintaining accurate, auditable records. You’ll work closely with production teams to ensure smooth operations, maintain a safe and organised environment, and keep assembly lines running without interruption. This is a full-time, stable role with opportunities for growth in a fast-paced, forward-thinking engineering company.
Main Duties:
- Order, receive, pick, pack, issue, and despatch inventory whilst maintaining fully auditable records on both system and paper accurately to meet customer requirements
- Maintain a Kanban system, enabling assembly team to work without hindrance
- Maintain a safe, clear, and clean environment ensuring all procedures are adhered to
- Conduct daily inventory checks and record findings on excel spreadsheet
- Use a forklift only if trained and authorised to do so (in date operator’s licence), loading / unloading vehicles and moving stock around
- Submitting purchase order requests for consumables
- Work with production requirements in line with sales
- Assist with despatching of finished products in line with production
- Understanding the despatching process
- Understanding of customer packing specifications
- Supply employees with PPE / Products throughout the day
Essential:
- Experience of working with a stock control system
- Good knowledge of Stock Control and Stores Procedures
- Confident working with numbers
- Working proactively, and efficiently to deadlines, and engaged to achieving time-bound targets
- Flexibility to performing other tasks if required, and willing to learn new skills
- Ability to work well with employees and fulfil requests
Desirable:
- Practical experience of working with MS Office applications
- Awareness of Health and Safety procedures
- An understanding of management systems to ISO 9001 standards
- Experience of working within the Railway and Defence sector
- Experience of using a counterbalance forklift truck
- Experience of using Sage
- Counterbalance forklift licence
