HR Employment Bureau are looking for an experienced Laser Programmer to work with one of their prestigious clients based in the Nottingham area.
Working hours: 09:00 - 17:00
Pay Rate: £14.00ph (increases after probation period)
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce accurate laser cutting programs from customer drawings and CAD files.
- Create efficient nests to maximise material utilisation and reduce waste.
- Generate production documentation, including route cards and work instructions where required.
- Ensure programs meet customer specifications and quality requirements.
- Work closely with Production Planning to prioritise urgent work and meet delivery deadlines.
- Liaise with Estimating and Sales regarding manufacturability and material requirements.
- Review customer drawings and identify potential manufacturing issues before production.
- Maintain accurate programming records and documentation.
- Support continuous improvement by reviewing programming methods and improving efficiencies.
- Assist with troubleshooting production issues relating to programmed parts.
- Communicate effectively with shop floor operators to resolve programming queries.
- Ensure revision control is maintained for customer drawings and programs.
- Support new product introductions and prototype work.
- Comply with all Health & Safety policies and company procedures.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience programming laser cutting machinery within a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience using CAD/CAM programming software.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good mathematical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
- Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Bystronic BySoft, Trumpf Boost, Solidworks or similar programming software.
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
- Experience within precision engineering or sheet metal manufacturing.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles.
