Our client based in Nottingham is seeking an experienced and motivated CNC Miller & Programmer to join their growing manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines to manufacture precision engineered components to the highest quality standards while maintaining safety, quality and efficiency.

39 Hours per week: 7am - 4pm Mon - Thursday, 7am - 12.30pm Friday

Key Responsibilities
  • Programming
    • Create, edit and optimise CNC milling programmes using CAD/CAM software and machine controls.
    • Produce first-off components to drawing specifications.
    • Modify and improve existing programmes to reduce cycle times.
    • Maintain programme documentation and backups.
  • Setting & Operating
    • Set and operate CNC milling machines.
    • Select suitable tooling, fixtures and workholding.
    • Produce one-off and batch components to engineering drawings.
    • Carry out tool changes and offsets.
  • Quality
    • Inspect components using verniers, micrometers, bore gauges and height gauges.
    • Complete first-off inspections.
    • Report any non-conformances immediately.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and quality.
    • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Health, Safety & Housekeeping
    • Follow all Health & Safety procedures.
    • Wear required PPE.
    • Maintain excellent housekeeping and routine machine maintenance.
Person Specification
  • Essential
    • Previous experience as a CNC Miller.
    • Experience programming CNC milling machines.
    • Ability to read engineering drawings.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Desirable
    • CAD/CAM programming experience.
    • Experience with Hurco, Haas, Mazak or Fanuc controls.
    • Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent.
    • Haas and Matsuura machinery knowledge.
