Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Support the business by deploying the Quality Strategy.
- Act as the prime contact for suppliers on product quality related matters.
- Contribute to securing and improving the quality management system.
- Lead by example on good documentation practice and elements of ISO 9001, AS 9100, and ISO 13485.
- Communicate with suppliers on complaints and returned goods.
- Manage and record all return goods requests in appropriate systems.
- Analyse rejects from manufacturing on purchased goods and communicate decisions to suppliers.
- Convert NCRs into SCARs when appropriate and manage follow-up with suppliers.
- Initiate a quality strategy for new materials and perform first article inspections.
- Perform supplier audits, both initial and regular.
- Manage change requests to and from suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance and quality of incoming materials and components.
- Review product specifications sent to suppliers for completeness and consistency.
- Authorise the release of non-conforming supplier materials/components based on investigations.
- Produce monthly reports showing defects per month and status reports for management.
- Undertake supplier development activities where required.
- Travel to suppliers to investigate quality problems and conduct audits.
- Create and update inspection templates for goods receipt inspection.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Bachelors’ degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is desirable.
- 3+ years of direct involvement in quality management in an industrial manufacturing setting.
- Knowledgeable regarding ISO9001 / ISO13485 / AS 9100 and other relevant standards.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with customers, suppliers, and co-workers.
- Demonstrable organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Practical knowledge of engineering.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
