Location: London, W1K 4HB

Contract: Full time Permanent - Salary: £28,000 to £30,000 pa. DEO

Pension: employee contribution is 5% minimum, employer contribution is 3%, through NEST

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Development Assistant to play a key role in our fundraising success. Fundraising generates around 50% of our annual income and is vital to sustaining and growing the museum. With ambitious plans ahead, this is an exciting opportunity to build skills, relationships and impact in a small, passionate team. Working closely with the Director and Head of Giving, you'll support and help to deliver our annual giving programmes, nurture relationships with donors and supporters, keep our fundraising records in great shape, and bring memorable events to life.

What you'll do:

  • Support fundraising administration, donor research and record-keeping using our CRM
  • Be the first point of contact for fundraising enquiries and supporter communications
  • Deliver Friends and Patrons programmes, including renewals, events and visits
  • Help prepare grant applications, reports and fundraising materials
  • Co-ordinate supporter mailings, appeals and online giving content
  • Organise and deliver donor cultivation and exhibition opening events
  • Support meetings with Trustees, donors and stakeholders

Skills and Experience:

  • Organised self-starter with strong attention to detail and a customer-focused approach
  • Confident communicator able to engage donors and write clear and persuasive content
  • Able to prioritise workload and manage competing demands effectively
  • Familiar with CRM systems (RE_NXT or similar) and accurate record-keeping
  • Understanding of fundraising standards and best practice (e.g. Fundraising Code of Practice)
  • Collaborative team player with a creative, problem-solving mindset
  • Awareness of diverse audiences and inclusive ways of working
  • Interest in heritage and history, with a passion for music
  • Degree or equivalent; relevant qualifications in fundraising, marketing or communications (or working towards) desirable

Handel Hendrix House is a unique music museum in Mayfair, London, celebrating the lives and legacies of two of the most influential musicians in history, Baroque composer George Frideric Handel and rock legend Jimi Hendrix, who happened to live next door to each other, centuries apart. Visitors can explore Handel's beautifully restored home, dating back to the 18th century, where he wrote and rehearsed many of his greatest works, and also there is the adjoining flat where Hendrix lived, worked and jammed during his time living in London.
