We are seeking an experienced Electronics Buyer / Procurement Specialist to manage the end-to-end purchasing process for our contract electronics manufacturing (CEM) operations. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced electronics procurement professional who thrives on solving supply chain challenges, negotiating the best deals and using modern procurement platforms such as Luminovo and 123Insight to make informed purchasing decisions. From BOM costing and supplier management to identifying component obsolescence risks before they become problems, you'll be at the centre of our manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- MRP Execution & Purchase Order Management: Responsible for reviewing daily MRP demand signals within our MRP system to raise, place, and manage purchase orders for electromechanical components, bare PCBs, and custom fabricated parts.
- Supplier Expediting & Delivery Tracking: Responsible for obtaining order acknowledgments, maintaining accurate delivery promise dates within our MRP system and proactively expediting open lines with franchised and catalogue distributors.
- BOM Costing & Sourcing: Responsible for costing Bills of Materials for new customer enquiries and production builds using Luminovo and direct supplier negotiations to secure competitive pricing, MOQ/SPQ optimisation and favorable lead times.
- Obsolescence & Lifecycle Flagging: Responsible for monitoring component lifecycle alerts (EOL, PCN and extended lead times) generated via Luminovo, logging and escalating affected lines directly to the engineering team for alternative component selection and sign-off.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Enthusiastically maintaining relationships with key franchised distributors, catalogue suppliers, PCB fabricators and specialist brokers. Monitoring supplier On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) delivery performance.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Working with Stores and Finance to resolve 3-way invoice matching queries within 123Insight, processing incorrect shipments, and managing Returns to Vendor (RTV) for defective parts.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience of purchasing or procurement within a Contract Electronics Manufacturer (CEM) or an electronic manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of electronic component types, standard packaging (Tape & Reel, Tubes, Trays), distributor networks and manufacturer part number (MPN) conventions.
- Hand on experience with 123Insight or similar MRP / ERP systems.
- Experience with API-driven procurement/costing platforms (ideally Luminovo or equivalent such as CalcuQuote).
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (XLOOKUPs, data manipulation for handling large BOM files).
- Strong negotiation skills for pricing and payment terms.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with external clients and internal colleagues.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
