The Role
The Operations Manager is a senior, business‑critical role within Grit Consultancy. Reporting directly to the company founders, you will take ownership of the firm’s operational backbone, ensuring the business runs efficiently, compliantly and professionally day to day. This role spans operations, finance administration, supplier and client coordination, people processes and internal reporting. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, providing structure, oversight and practical support while identifying opportunities to improve how the business operates. This position is suited to an experienced operations professional who thrives in a hands‑on environment, enjoys responsibility and wants to play a visible role in the growth of a consultancy business.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Operations and Finance
- Own the end‑to‑end order‑to‑invoice process, including quotations, purchase orders, invoicing and reconciliation
- Produce all company invoices and manage supplier invoices and expenses, working closely with the outsourced accounts team
- Maintain contracts, insurance, compliance records and overall operational costs
- Client, Supplier and Commercial Support
- Support client onboarding and maintain accurate client and contact records
- Liaise with suppliers and vendors to source competitive pricing for hardware, software and licensing
- Act as a key administrative and operational liaison across clients and partners
- People, Office and Governance
- Oversee office management, facilities, equipment and Health and Safety standards
- Coordinate team calendars, holidays and new starter inductions
- Maintain staff records and support internal people processes
- Arrange travel and accommodation for the support team as required
- Reporting and Continuous Improvement
- Produce operational and management reports for senior stakeholders
- Support clear internal communication across the business
- Identify, design and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and service quality
- Provide operational and administrative support to the CEO and founders
Experience and Skills
- Proven experience in operations management, office management or senior administrative leadership
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with excellent attention to detail
- Confident communicator, comfortable working with senior stakeholders
- Commercially aware, proactive and solutions‑focused
- Able to operate independently within a small, growing business
- Experience within an IT consultancy, MSP or professional services environment
- Experience using systems such as Xero, Microsoft 365, HubSpot or similar
- Familiarity with PSA systems such as Autotask
- Knowledge of GDPR, data protection and basic procurement processes
