A Designer at Heart is a senior‐led design studio specialising in interior design for Purpose‐Built Student Accommodation, Build to Rent, and hybrid hospitality spaces. We create interiors that are both beautifully designed and commercially effective. We're looking for a well‐rounded interior designer with strong conceptual skills, who can help envision competitive and aspirational schemes for our clients. This will be someone who is a hands‐on Interior Designer. The role is flexible around experience level, making it ideal for either a confident senior designer or an ambitious mid‐weight ready to take on greater ownership and creative responsibility.

The Role

This is not a siloed design position. You will be involved across the full lifecycle of projects, from concept through to delivery, contributing both creatively and technically. You will have real influence over how projects evolve, with direct exposure to clients, consultants and delivery teams. This will mean regular visits to Construction Sites throughout the project lifecycle.

You will thrive here if you enjoy responsibility. Not just producing work, but shaping it.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Taking an active role across projects from concept through to completion
  • Supporting and, where appropriate, leading key project workstreams
  • Collaborating with clients, consultants, suppliers and contractors
  • Contributing to space planning, concept development and presentation work
  • Producing coordinated technical drawing packages and construction information
  • Developing FF&E schemes, sourcing materials and supporting procurement
  • Helping manage programmes, deliverables and design outputs
  • Working closely with a small, experienced team to maintain quality and momentum
  • Contributing to improving internal processes and ways of working

What We're Looking For

  • Strong experience delivering interior design projects in Revit within a BIM environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with fluent written and spoken English
  • Solid technical understanding, including UK building regulations and compliance
  • A good eye for design, with thoughtful use of colour, materiality and detail
  • The ability to move comfortably between concept and technical stages
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities effectively
  • A collaborative, proactive working style with clear communication
  • Experience in PBSA, BTR, hospitality or comparable sectors is advantageous
  • A degree in Interior Architecture, Interior Design, or a related discipline

Software

  • Revit, InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft 365
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Illustrator is an advantage.
  • Experience creating and managing Revit families will be highly beneficial.

How We Work

  • Hybrid working, with two days per week in our Finsbury Park Studio
  • Exposure to projects across the UK and internationally (ability to travel)
  • A small, senior‐led team where contribution is visible and valued

Why Join Us

This is a studio for designers who want to keep improving. You'll gain exposure beyond design output, into decision‐making, delivery, and the realities of operational design. You'll be trusted with responsibility, supported by experienced colleagues, and given room to grow your judgement and leadership.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

We believe better design comes from diverse perspectives. A Designer at Heart is committed to building an inclusive environment where people feel respected, supported and able to do their best work. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds, particularly those who are underrepresented within the design industry. All recruitment decisions are made on the basis of skills, experience and potential. We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind, and we are committed to fair and inclusive processes in line with UK employment law.
