To provide technical engineering support to the Engineering & Transformation Manager in the delivery of process improvement and transformation projects. The role is responsible for developing and maintaining process documentation (including P&IDs), preparing equipment schedules and technical specifications, and supporting project delivery through contractor coordination, risk assessment, and procurement activities. The Project Engineer will apply process and mechanical engineering knowledge to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards, while continuing to build technical capability through ongoing professional development.
- Update and maintain Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for existing and new processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with site and industry standards. Training will be provided.
- Maintain equipment and component schedules associated with P&IDs, including pumps, valves, heat exchangers, pipework, instruments, etc.
- Review process designs and layouts, identifying potential improvements, risks, or inconsistencies.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including technical specifications, data sheets, scopes of work, and drawings.
- Provide technical input to the Engineering Manager during project planning, execution, and close-out phases.
Support the delivery of transformation and process improvement projects from concept through to commissioning.
- Assist with contractor selection, technical evaluations, and coordination during installation and modification works.
- Participate in risk assessments, method statement reviews, and design safety reviews to ensure safe project execution.
- Support project scheduling, progress tracking, and technical issue resolution during project delivery.
- Assist with equipment installation, testing, commissioning, and handover to operations.
- Support the procurement of new equipment and services, including technical bid evaluations and supplier engagement.
- Liaise with suppliers and contractors to ensure technical requirements, delivery schedules, and quality expectations are met.
- Assist with purchase order (PO) preparation, project cost tracking, and documentation for project close-out.
Contribute to the identification and implementation of process, equipment, and reliability improvements.
- Participate and support the capture of lessons learned and the implementation of best practices from completed projects.
- Assist in improving engineering documentation standards and project delivery processes.
Ensure all work activities are conducted safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and controlled engineering and project documentation.
- Provide technical support to the Operations and Engineering teams as required.
- Undertake any other reasonable tasks and duties as required by the Company.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Ideally 2+ years’ industrial experience in a manufacturing, process, or engineering environment.
- Good working knowledge of mechanical and process equipment, including pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and pipework.
- Understanding of the full project lifecycle, from concept and design through to installation and commissioning.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external contractors.
- A motivated individual with a strong desire for technical excellence.
