Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Psychologist to join our team in making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people. This rewarding role involves providing direct support to children, as well as delivering crucial training, guidance, and consultation to our staff. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in trauma-informed care, child development, and promoting mental well-being in care settings. You will play a vital role in creating a safe and nurturing environment that meets the emotional and psychological needs of children while equipping staff with the knowledge and tools to provide outstanding care.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supporting Children and Young People: Perform in-depth psychological assessments to evaluate the emotional and developmental needs of children and young people. Design and implement personalized therapeutic interventions utilising evidence-based methods such as CBT, play therapy, and Dyadic Development Psychotherapy (DDP). Support children in overcoming trauma, managing attachment issues, and improving emotional regulation skills. Collaborate as an integral member of multi-disciplinary teams to create care plans and strategies tailored to individual needs. Offer crisis intervention and provide de-escalation support as needed.
- Supporting Staff: Facilitate regular consultation sessions and reflective practices to equip staff with strategies for managing challenging behaviours and addressing emotional needs effectively. Create and deliver comprehensive training programs on key topics, including trauma-informed care, attachment theory, and behaviour management techniques. Share psychological expertise to enhance staff understanding and responses to the needs of children in their care. Promote staff well-being by addressing workplace stress and fostering resilience within the team.
- Service Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and practices aligned with Ofsted requirements and best practices in child psychology. Conduct audits and evaluations to ensure the quality of therapeutic interventions and care. Collaborate with external agencies, including education, health, and social care professionals, to provide holistic support for children.
