A manufacturing business in the Stoke-on-Trent area is seeking a Materials Planner. The role ensures uninterrupted material availability by converting MRP demand into accurate purchase orders, maintaining reliable ERP data, and supporting production, purchasing and supply chain teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Raise, amend and issue Purchase Orders accurately and on time
- Liaise proactively with suppliers, chase open orders and manage delivery expectations
- Review MRP recommendations and action accordingly
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Maintain Master Data within MRP/ERP systems, ensuring accuracy and integrity
- Support the review and development of supplier and departmental KPIs
- Escalate supplier negotiations where required
- Identify and support cost-saving opportunities
- Assist in sourcing new suppliers to support supply chain and business objectives
- Support NPI and technical projects when required
- Work closely with material planning and production planning to ensure raw materials are available at the right time and in the right quantities
- Improve internal communication and manage relationships within the team
- Maintain accurate supplier records and contact databases
- Support month-end reporting and purchase ledger reconciliation
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the purchasing function
- Assist with supplier performance reviews and scorecarding
Requirements & Experience
- Open-minded, adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced SME environment
- Minimum 2 years experience in a purchasing, buying, materials planning or supply chain role
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience within a manufacturing or production environment
- Competent with MRP/ERP systems and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- High attention to detail with strong organisational skills
- Able to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
- Proactive problem-solving approach
