We are offering a wonderful opportunity to join a small established care team providing support to our Client within her own home, enabling her to maintain her independence and access and enjoy her hobbies and interests. If you are looking for a role which is fulfilling but also helps support a good work/life balance, this could be perfect for you.

The Client

Claire is a 37 year old lady with an acquired brain injury, sustained during childhood which has left her with epilepsy which is managed through a VNS implant, moderate learning disability, and mildly reduced left hand function. She needs help and support in her day-to-day life, for example in ensuring she takes her medication, makes healthy eating choices, maintains good standards of hygiene and personal care and is supported to keep her home clean and tidy.

Claire is a warm, engaging lady with a wonderful sense of humour and a terrific sense of fun who needs another person to join her team who will support her in her ongoing rehabilitation journey and in her everyday life.

Hobbies & Interests

Claire has a number of interests and hobbies, with a real love of animals with several pets of her own including a cat and guinea pigs. She loves her garden which includes a large fishtank. Claire also goes to various different clubs and activities regularly however is open to widening her interests and social circle. Claire also enjoys spending time with her family who live nearby, going shopping and going out for lunch as well as going clubbing once a month where she loves to dance. Claire likes busy fun filled days but then also loves quiet relaxed days spent at home.

The Role

This role requires the successful candidate to support Claire’s independence and confidence and would suit someone who has similar interests to Claire and who is happy to get involved in caring for the animals and maintaining the garden. Claire thrives in the company of happy relaxed people and it is fundamental that Claire is given the opportunity to express her thoughts and wishes in decision making. Sensitivity and flexibility are key requirements with an understanding of the need to maintain professional boundaries when working within a Client’s home, demonstrating respect for privacy and confidentiality.

Candidates should ideally hold a full UK driving licence and be happy to drive the Client’s vehicle. Experience of working with Clients with an acquired brain injury and associated learning disabilities would be an advantage however full training will be given. An understanding of the importance of following a care plan and maintaining clear care notes is essential and there is therefore a need to have good verbal and written English.

Available Hours

The existing team have a 4 week fixed rolling rota in place so the successful candidate will have certainty in respect of their working days. The hours available comprise: 7 x 24 hour shifts across the 4 week rota, commencing at 09:00 one day through to 09:00 the next with sleeping hours between 23:00 and 09:00.

Rates of Pay

  • Day Shift (09:00 – 23:00) Monday to Friday: £14.00 per hour
  • Saturday & Sunday: £16.00 per hour
  • Sleeping Night (23:00 – 09:00) Monday to Sunday: £122.10 per shift

*Exemption is claimed under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9.
