Job Purpose

To carry out bearing assembly, testing and related operations within designated Assembly cells, ensuring all work is completed accurately and in accordance with written procedures, quality standards and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • To assemble bearings and/or carry out tasks relating to bearing assembly in accordance with appropriate written instructions and/or separate instructions from the Production Coordinator.
  • Use all tools, machines, plant equipment, gauges and measuring instruments required to carry out allotted tasks and ensure that all tasks conform to relevant Company standards for production, quality assurance, parts handling, safety and housekeeping.
  • Use a range of measuring equipment, gauges and precision instruments to verify component dimensions and ensure products meet specification requirements.
  • Carry out visual and dimensional inspections, demonstrating a high level of attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Complete all required quality documentation accurately and maintain clear, legible records in line with company procedures.
  • Follow written work instructions, standard operating procedures and process documentation to ensure consistent quality and compliance.
  • Convert and interpret measurements accurately where required, ensuring correct application throughout assembly and inspection processes.
  • Assist in ensuring that all equipment used in performing allotted tasks is in a safe, clean and fully maintained condition and that any discrepancy is reported to the Cell Leader.
  • Maintain accurate, legible records as required for production purposes, using appropriate recording media defined and supervised by the Cell Leader.
  • Comply with all Health and Safety regulations relating to the work area.
  • Communicate with the Production Coordinator on all aspects affecting the smooth running of the Cell.
  • Carry out related duties as required by the Production Coordinator

Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometres, gauges or similar precision measuring tools.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Experience completing quality records and production documentation accurately.
  • Ability to follow written instructions, procedures and technical documentation.
  • Confident in converting and working with different units of measurement.
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, assembly or engineering environment would be advantageous.
  • A GCSE in Mathematics (or equivalent qualification) would be preferred; however, all candidates will be required to complete a maths assessment as part of the recruitment process.
