The role of the Strategy and Development Team is to support the Trust to improve outcomes for people with mental ill health, learning disability or
autism by providing a clear strategic direction and ensuring constructive relationships with commissioners and stakeholders. We are a small
team leading on strategies and contracts for the Trust.
You will join a team of four other Business Managers supporting the organisation
Main duties of the job
This role will support one of the Trust's Divisions with their planning and commercial activity. This will include supporting the development of the Annual Plan and Divisional Plans and acting as the main link to commissioners for services within these Divisions.
Alongside this the role will contribute to key projects that will allow the Trust to retain and grow in income in a sustainable and profitable manner
such as supporting the development of tender submissions and business cases in connection with planned service changes.
Working closely with senior managers, finance and HR colleagues you will take responsibility for maintaining positive relationships with our key
commissioners. This will include leading on contract and performance discussions; supporting colleagues in the development of service proposals and supporting in the development and monitoring of the Trust's key strategic plans.
There will also be a requirement for some travel throughout the HPFT footprint, this includes Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex and Norfolk

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will work flexibly in a project based environment with overall accountability to the Deputy Director of Strategy and Development,
but with responsibility to individual project leaders for delivery of agreed actions.
This role will:
- Support one of the Trust Divisions with their operational plans
- Work with colleagues to ensure contracts are up to date and are managed effectively
- Work with operational leads to provide commissioners with appropriate and timely information and to complete business cases for additional investment
Experience
- Advanced professional knowledge acquired through a degree supplemented by specialist training to masters or equivalent level, management qualification or experience.
- Post graduate qualification in relevant area of health or social care
- Evidence of Management Training
- Extensive experience at senior management level
Experience
- Significant operational management experience at a senior level within a complex organisation
- Experience of working within a commercial environment and developing plans based on external market forces
- In depth knowledge and experience of business management, competitor analysis and planning based on external competition and drivers
- Evidence of building effective relationships with commissioners, partners and clinical leaders
- Experience of successful budgetary management
