Buyer (Direct)

HPCareers are now assisting our international, award winning design and manufacturing client with their further development of this Procurement team.

The Role

  • To negotiate and place purchase orders
  • To meet and approve both new and existing suppliers
  • To support the continuous improvement of supplier performance
  • To ensure the business remain compliant
  • Ensure purchased items are delivered on time, at the correct price, with the correct documentation and to the required standard
  • Procure only from original manufacturers or franchised distributors and have full traceability back to manufacture
  • To carry out purchasing according to specified needs
  • Securing cost reductions wherever possible
  • Maintain adequate stock levels
  • Review methods of reducing cost of purchased parts
  • Progress orders and ensure timely delivery
  • Management of long lead times
  • Working closely with production planning
  • Resolve shortages of products for production
  • Build relations with existing suppliers
  • Obtain commitment from new suppliers
  • Source new products and suppliers where/when required
  • To review in conjunction with QA, supplier performance and define recommended courses of action to improve supplier response
  • To carry out vendor rating and monitor suppliers
  • Liaise with the drawing office and the Materials planning team
  • To provide costing information for outsourcing projects
  • Provide sales with accurate BOM costs when required
  • Support configuration control with new part create information
  • Completion of all NCR supplier responses
  • Raise engineering change notes
  • DPS screening of suppliers
