The Opportunity

As a Senior Civil Engineer / Geotechnical Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering major Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) projects at Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C, while also supporting our fleet of operating nuclear power stations. You'll be part of the Civil Engineering Branch ensuring technical excellence and safety across every stage of our projects while supporting younger staff members to develop and improve their engineering knowledge and capabilities.

You'll collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, from external designers to regulators, and travel to key sites to maintain oversight and drive project success. Your expertise will help us fulfil our 'Intelligent Customer' responsibilities, ensuring our designs and operations meet the highest standards.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide expert technical advice and innovative solutions to the nuclear new build projects ensuring they meet rigorous safety and quality standards.
  • Manage technical issues to enable the delivery of pragmatic solutions, challenging where appropriate.
  • Perform technical review and acceptance of design documentation produced by designers.
  • Maintain oversight to ensure safety case requirements are captured in the design and the 'golden thread' can be clearly traced.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including interactions with the ONR.

Overall, you'll be at the forefront of civil design and construction for Hinkley Point C, contribute to the ramp-up of Sizewell C, and support life extension projects for our existing nuclear fleet. Your work will directly impact and contribute to Britain's journey to #CarbonNetZero. This is a role where your expertise will shape the future of nuclear energy, offering both challenge and reward in equal measure.

Who you are

You will hold a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and bring experience as a Civil/Structural Engineer, ideally with Chartership status. You're skilled in designing or reviewing reinforced concrete and steelwork structures, working to Eurocodes and other recognised standards or will provide expert Geotechnical Engineering advice.

You're confident leading integrated technical solutions, governance, and stakeholder engagement. Your analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to work independently set you apart. Above all, your communication and interpersonal skills enable you to thrive in a collaborative, innovative environment.
