Our client is currently seeking an experienced Body Shop Strip Fitter / Vehicle Strip & Refit Technician to join their busy automotive repair facility in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Bodyshop Technician, Vehicle Technician, MET Technician, Mechanical Electrical Trim (MET) Fitter or Strip & Refit Specialist looking for a stable Monday-Friday role with excellent earning potential.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the removal, stripping, refitting and replacement of vehicle components as part of the accident repair process. Candidates with experience in minor filler repairs, panel preparation and bodywork repairs would be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:- Carry out full vehicle strip and refit operations within a body shop environment
- Remove and refit vehicle components including bumpers, wings, doors, bonnets, tailgates, lights, trims, interiors, panels and body fittings
- Carry out Mechanical, Electrical and Trim (MET) repairs where required
- Prepare vehicles for the repair and paint process
- Complete accurate dismantling and reassembly of vehicles following repair procedures
- Identify damaged components and support the repair process from start to finish
- Carry out minor filler work, sanding, masking and preparation duties
- Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer standards and company quality expectations
- Maintain a high level of productivity while working to agreed repair times and deadlines
- Work closely with panel beaters, paint technicians, estimators and workshop management
- Previous experience as a Strip Fitter, MET Technician, Bodyshop Technician, Vehicle Technician, Vehicle Fitter or Accident Repair Technician
- Experience working within an automotive body repair / accident repair centre
- Strong knowledge of vehicle dismantling, refitting and body repair processes
- Experience working with a wide range of vehicle makes and models
- Ability to use workshop tools and equipment safely
- Understanding of repair methods, vehicle structures and manufacturer repair standards
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a busy workshop team
- Minor filler, prep or bodywork repair experience would be highly advantageous
- £42,000 basic salary
