Mechanical Project Engineer to work on a large substation project for the next 1-2 years in Ipswich, Suffolk. Paying £425-£450 a day + Outside IR35 + Site/Home working + Long Term.

We are currently looking for an experienced Project Engineer with a strong mechanical background to support a major substation project based in Ipswich. This is a long-term contract opportunity offering over 1-2 years of work, with a planned start date in July/August 2026.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering substation works, coordinating engineering activities, supporting site teams, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Project Engineer within the utilities, power, or energy sector
  • Strong mechanical engineering background
  • Previous experience working on substation projects is essential
  • Ability to coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site activities
  • Strong understanding of HSE and quality standards
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of substation installation and upgrade works
  • Review engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Liaise with clients, site teams, and subcontractors
