Our client is a well-established and growing HVAC and mechanical services business, delivering servicing, maintenance and technical support across a portfolio of commercial sites. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced and capable HVAC Service Manager to take responsibility for a portfolio of sites, leading a team of engineers and ensuring the efficient delivery of planned, reactive and remedial works. This is a varied role combining technical support, team management, customer relationships, commercial responsibilities and day-to-day service operations, making it an excellent opportunity for an experienced HVAC professional looking to take the next step in their career.
Role and Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of sites, providing support across all HVAC equipment while managing a team of field-based engineers.
- Lead the service team, providing guidance and support on operational and technical issues.
- Oversee the maintenance, servicing and repair of HVAC equipment and coordinate the service team accordingly.
- Resolve customer issues, problems and complaints, proactively addressing them to ensure they are concluded in a timely manner.
- Identify potential technical or operational issues proactively and provide effective solutions.
- Act as the key escalation point for technical queries from engineers and clients.
- Support the sales team with all service and technical-related enquiries.
- Prepare accurate and high-quality quotations and proposals for service, remedial and replacement works.
- Review engineer reports, service worksheets and job sheets to ensure works have been completed correctly and identify any additional requirements.
- Prepare, issue and chase quotations through to completion.
- Order parts and coordinate the delivery of materials required for service and repair works.
- Manage and coordinate the booking in of parts and ensure engineers have the correct equipment and materials required.
- Manage the engineers' queries and provide technical and operational support.
- Manage the engineers' diaries, scheduling and allocation of works to ensure efficient resource utilisation.
- Manage and participate in the on-call rota.
- Attend client meetings and manage client KPIs, service levels and performance.
- Prepare and review RAMS to ensure works are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure effective refrigerant management and compliance across the service operation.
- Support P&L reviews and management sign-off processes.
- Manage the warehouse, ensuring stock, parts and equipment are correctly organised and available when required.
- Monitor service performance, KPIs and operational activity, reporting into senior management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, engineers and internal teams.
Skills and Experience Required
- Strong background within the HVAC or Mechanical Services industry.
- Previous experience managing or leading a team of HVAC engineers.
- Strong technical understanding of HVAC equipment and mechanical building services.
- Experience managing a portfolio of commercial sites and service contracts.
- Experience across planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and remedial works.
- Strong understanding of engineer reports, service worksheets, RAMS and technical documentation.
- Experience preparing and managing quotations and proposals.
- Commercially aware with an understanding of P&L and service profitability.
- Excellent customer service and relationship management skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage engineers, diaries, parts and multiple sites simultaneously.
- Confident dealing with escalated customer queries, complaints and technical issues.
- Good understanding of refrigerant management and relevant compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Full UK driving licence (Essential).
- Positive, proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
