Are you an experienced Senior CNC Operator, CNC Production Technician, CNC Machinist or CNC Setter/Operator looking to join a growing manufacturing business with genuine long-term career prospects? Due to continued expansion and investment in manufacturing, we are looking to recruit an experienced Senior CNC Operator to play a key role in developing and supporting our afternoon production shift. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership, mentoring colleagues and driving production efficiency within a modern manufacturing environment.

This is far more than a machine operating position. We’re looking for someone with strong technical ability who can confidently set up, adjust programmes, optimise production and support continuous improvement across the manufacturing operation.

The Role

Working on a permanent afternoon shift (4:00pm Midnight), you’ll be responsible for ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining exceptional quality standards and supporting the wider manufacturing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate and make programme adjustments on CNC machinery.
  • Manufacture high-quality components to specification.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical drawings and production documentation.
  • Carry out machine set-ups and tooling changes.
  • Monitor production output, cycle times and machine efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot machining and production issues.
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained through regular inspection and quality control.
  • Assist with production planning and machine utilisation.
  • Train, mentor and support junior CNC operators and production staff.
  • Act as a senior point of contact during afternoon shift operations.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and health & safety standards.

About You

We’re looking for candidates with experience in one or more of the following roles:

  • Senior CNC Operator
  • CNC Production Technician
  • CNC Machinist
  • CNC Setter
  • CNC Setter/Operator
  • CNC Programmer
  • CNC Machine Operator
  • Manufacturing Technician
  • Production Technician

You’ll ideally have:

  • Proven experience operating CNC machinery within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience carrying out machine set-ups and programme adjustments.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control procedures.
  • Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A proactive approach with excellent communication skills.
  • Previous experience mentoring or supporting colleagues is highly desirable.
  • Experience with CNC programming or programme optimisation would be advantageous.
  • Background in joinery manufacturing, woodworking, timber processing, panel processing, furniture manufacturing, sheet material manufacturing or precision engineering would be beneficial.
