A growing contractor is seeking an experienced Pre-Construction Director to lead and develop its regional pre-construction function in Birmingham following the award of a major long-term framework. This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone with a strong background in pre-construction, estimating, bids, commercial strategy and team leadership within the construction sector. The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing the front-end process across a range of projects including building fabric, remediation, refurbishment and passive fire works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the regional pre-construction strategy
  • Manage estimating, cost planning and tender submissions
  • Oversee surveys, scopes of work and technical compliance
  • Identify and mitigate commercial and programme risk
  • Improve bid quality, win rates and client engagement
  • Build and manage a high-performing pre-construction team
  • Ensure smooth handover from pre-construction to operations
  • Develop systems, processes and reporting structures

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Pre-Construction Director / Head of Pre-Construction / Bid Director / Estimating Director
  • Strong construction background across main contracting, refurbishment or specialist works
  • Excellent commercial awareness and pricing experience
  • Experience leading teams and managing stakeholders at senior level
  • Strong knowledge of tendering, procurement and project delivery processes
  • Ability to drive growth and support regional expansion
