Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and PowerShell to improve system administration tasks
- Support the configuration, maintenance and optimisation of Windows‑based engineering infrastructure
- Assist with the deployment, monitoring and maintenance of development, test and build environments
- Contribute to infrastructure improvement projects, helping increase reliability, scalability and security
- Investigate and resolve infrastructure issues, working closely with Software Engineers and DevOps teams
- Help improve system monitoring, reporting and operational tooling
- Support identity, access management and endpoint administration activities across engineering environments
- Document infrastructure processes and contribute to operational best practices
Qualifications
- 2nd Year, Final Year or Masters level student completing a degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Engineering or another STEM discipline
- Knowledge of Python and PowerShell scripting
- Understanding of Windows operating systems and system administration fundamentals
- Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and Active Directory)
- Experience using Git or other version control systems
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- An interest in infrastructure automation, systems engineering and cyber security
Desirable
- An interest in automating repetitive tasks and improving operational efficiency
- Experience working on technical projects outside of academia (personal projects, home labs, open‑source contributions or scripting projects)
- An enthusiasm for Windows administration, infrastructure and cloud technologies
- A desire to learn modern DevOps, automation and infrastructure management practices
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a world‑class engineering team
Location & Working Model
This role is based in HP's Cambridge office under a hybrid working arrangement, with a minimum requirement to be onsite three days per week. As a people‑focused senior role, regular in‑person collaboration is encouraged. HP has invested in a new, modern site, including ergonomic workspaces and well stocked kitchen facilities that include a wide selection of coffee. Remote working applications will not be progressed.
