Key details about the role and the candidate

Provision of discipline design services for the allocated Engineering Office or Project(s).

You and the role

Time-served Electrical Designer familiar with the design equipment and production of deliverables typically associated with offshore drilling facilities.

Primary responsibilities

• Safety: Demonstration of safe approach in design and working practices following the objectives of the Office and project specific Health Safety and Environmental Plans.
• Financial: Awareness and understanding of the business drivers within the KCA DEUTAG / Client relationship and how these can be influenced by innovative designs and fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Business Development: Development of good working relationship with Client and site personnel.
• Departmental Development: Liaison with the Lead Discipline Designer to identify areas for development and to implement improvements in working practices.
• Systems and Processes: Provision of information as required by KCA DEUTAG systems.
• People: Training and development of Trainee Discipline Designers and assistance to Lead Discipline Engineer for training and development of Graduate Discipline Engineers.
• Quality: Adherence to the KCA DEUTAG BMS. Keeping up to date with technical developments, client national and international standards, and legislative requirements related to the role.
• Planning & Organising: Direct functional responsibility for fit for purpose design deliverables delivered to schedule and budget.

Experience

Proven experience in discipline design role with an Oilfield Operator, Drilling Contractor, or Service Company.

• Good interpersonal skills with an ability to tailor their approach to deal appropriately with all levels of contact.

• Deadline conscious with strong drive and initiative and ability to work well in time sensitive situations.
• Understanding of the Oil & Gas sector marketplace and market forces.
• Must speak and write fluent English.

Minimum qualifications

Professional qualifications and member of discipline professional institution are preferred.
