Join our team as
HR assistant on a temporary basis. We’re looking for a capable and detail-oriented HR Assistant to join our HR team during a key period of transformation. Based at our Head Office in Bolton, you’ll play a vital role in supporting day-to-day HR operations while contributing to the successful rollout of a new HR system designed to enhance and modernise our people processes. This is a hands-on, varied role ideal for someone with HR administrative experience who can hit the ground running.
Your day to day
As part of your role at Howorth, your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining and updating accurate employee records and files
- Supporting the onboarding and offboarding processes
- Preparing and issuing employment contracts and HR-related letters
- Coordinating recruitment administration, including posting vacancies, scheduling interviews, and following up references
- Managing the shared HR inbox and responding to routine queries
- Assisting with data entry and updates in HR and payroll systems (e.g., holidays, absences, personnel changes)
- Liaising with payroll to ensure employee data accuracy
- Monitoring and chasing compliance-related activities (e.g. onboarding reviews, training completion)
- Preparing reports, including monthly board reports
- Supporting HR casework through document preparation and minute-taking
- Assisting with the HR system implementation, including uploading training materials, managing feedback logs, and coordinating training sessions
- Carrying out general HR administration and ad hoc project support as required
Who you are
Recommended or desired qualifications and experience you would need to fulfil this role:
- Proven experience in an administrative or HR support role
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Comfortable working with sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality
- Confident communicator with good written and verbal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms is desirable – HiBob experience is a bonus
- Experience with payroll is advantageous
- CIPD qualification or working towards it is desirable but not essential
