Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Purpose: To effectively lead and manage a team of Manufacturing Setters and Operators to deliver products of exceptional quality, on time and within budget. This role is pivotal to our fast-paced and technically challenging production environment. In addition to leading the team, you will be responsible for ensuring safety, effectively dealing with technical problems, and driving through improvement initiatives.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Actively promote EHS awareness and ensure all team members understand and follow health and safety procedures.
- Continually audit the production area, effectively managing situations where non-conformance occurs.
- Assist in the identification and reporting of near miss incidents and risk assessments.
- Maintain and improve housekeeping through 5S.
- Working closely with the Production Planning team, ensure that the daily plan is clearly communicated and understood through daily meetings and factory walk around.
- Optimise and adjust resourcing levels according to plan and any unplanned absences.
- Manage all staff related HR issues such as holiday planning, absence, and any disciplinary or performance improvement situations that may occur.
- Use the TMS system to facilitate the management of absence and holidays.
- Support with prioritising and resolving technical problems and machine breakdowns.
- Ensure that Quality procedures are understood and adhered to within the manufacturing team.
- Effectively resolve and close out Quality issues through liaison with the quality department on 8Ds.
- Proactively drive the concept of CI, and strive to identify improvements both in terms of housekeeping, repeated quality issues, and production processes.
- Use 5S/Kaizen concepts to initiate and facilitate improvement activities.
- Assist in the skill development of the manufacturing team through the identification and facilitation of appropriate on the job training/off the job training.
- Coach and motivate team members, helping to promote and create an environment where employees can openly suggest improvements and accept responsibility for their work.
- Identify and promote opportunities for multi-skilling throughout the manufacturing team.
- Support with workforce planning in line with planned retirement, including suggestions for succession plan transfers.
- Work closely with the Team Leaders and other Shift Supervisors to ensure that collaborative teamwork and relevant information is communicated between different shifts.
- Develop communication plans to support improvement employee engagement, through the facilitation of feedback meetings, generation of ideas and sharing of agreed actions.
- Complete annual appraisals for all direct reports.
- Monitor and introduce measures in productivity, Planned Maintenance, OEE and Daily Board Monitoring, to achieve customer-based production plan.
- Work closely with Engineering on new product development projects, ensuring that sufficient support is provided to the manufacturing process to guarantee successful production.
- Ensure continued adherence to Job instructions and that all mandatory rules and regulations are adhered to by Manufacturing Team.

Experience & Background:
- 5 years’ experience in a management/supervisory role.
- Technical knowledge of cold forging manufacturing process desirable but not essential.
- Experience of attending continuous improvement events – knowledge of Kaizen and related lean manufacturing techniques.
- Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
- Awareness of Health & Safety standard ISO 14001 and Environmental standard ISO 45001.
