Responsibilities

The postholder is required to work such hours as are necessary in order to satisfactorily perform the role. This role will be required to work shifts as required by the Company.

Main Purpose of Job

As a Production Operative, you may be required to work across multiple departments including (but not limited to); Hot Works, Cold Works, Billet Cutting, Inspection, Lathes, Centreless Grinding, Packing and Despatch. There will be additional specific duties associated with each of these roles in addition to the main tasks described below:

Key Tasks and Accountabilities

  • Ensure that products are manufactured to a high and efficient standard and that any issues are reported.
  • Ensure all paperwork/route cards in relation to the department are completed correctly e.g. stamped and booked off in accordance with procedures.
  • Understand specific inspection instructions as per route cards and Standard Operating Procedures, and work to these instructions.
  • To ensure all work safe instructions and operating procedures are followed at all times.
  • Be fully aware of and work to achieve the departmental Key Operating Targets.
  • Ensure the full completion of daily production sheets and daily equipment and safety checks in line with company procedures.
  • Ensure that maximum throughput is maintained at all times by reporting breakdowns to maintenance, using the correct reporting and logging process.
  • Record the time taken to manage products and downtime issues.
  • Practice and enforce a high standard of Health and Safety adherence at all times and ensure that the plant is operated safely.
  • Maintain housekeeping of the area to a high standard and embrace the 5S/TPM and PPM Programmes on a daily basis.
  • The loading and unloading of vehicles, where trained and applicable, inclusive of moving product/raw materials through the site.
  • Adhere to scrap segregation and waste management procedures.
  • Respond quickly to the needs of the business and embrace change through team working, effective housekeeping, flexibility and continuous improvement.
  • Work on any piece of equipment where the individual has been trained and is competent.
  • Embrace any new process/training that improves the productivity of the business.
  • Redeployment to support other departments/functions as required.
  • Willing to be actively involved in process and housekeeping improvements.
  • Any other tasks commensurate with this post.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Experience of working in a Forging environment is preferred.
  • Ability to follow job instructions, processes, and internal quality standards.
  • A good understanding of the principles of Health & Safety at work.

Qualifications

  • Forklift Truck /Competency Certificate.
  • Overhead crane Licence/Competency Certificate.
  • Side Loader Licence/Competency Certificate.
  • Abrasive Wheels Course.
  • GCSE’s – A-C, including English and Maths.
