Responsibilities:

  • Project manage plant and equipment engineering projects to meet the existing and future needs of the Company.
  • Assist with the identification of current and future plant and equipment requirements.
  • Support project owners in preparing and reviewing capital appropriation proposals including the analysis of costs.
  • Identify project elements and required resources.
  • Prepare specifications, including design drawings, for project elements ensuring compliance with engineering principles, Company and QA standards.
  • Obtain quotes from subcontractors, evaluate and select subcontractors in conjunction with project owners and the purchasing department.
  • Develop project schedules including timescales and the planned sequence of project elements.
  • Co-ordinate and monitor the schedule to ensure timescales are maintained.
  • Control the project ensuring specifications are met, resolving problems and scheduling any changes.
  • Support the commissioning of new installations.
  • Control project costs by approving expenditure in conjunction with project owners and administrating subcontractor contracts.
  • Communicate progress with project owners, managers and colleagues and recommend actions.
  • Ensure that project drawings, records, and other associated documentation are maintained.
  • Liaise with maintenance to prepare preventative maintenance procedures and for the training of maintenance personnel and operators in the use of new equipment.
  • Ensure that subcontractors comply with the Company Environmental, Health & Safety requirements.
  • Contribute towards continuous improvement within the department.
  • Maintain professional knowledge by networking, attending training courses, benchmarking and reviewing professional publications.
  • Contribute to the departmental team objectives by accomplishing results as required.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Such other duties as the management may from time to time reasonably require.
  • Allocated complete responsibility for one or more projects.
  • Direct and advise Plant Engineers as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Qualified to Higher National level, or equivalent, in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ relevant technical experience within an engineering environment.
  • Skills and Abilities: Engineering expertise with a practical understanding of plant and maintenance engineering.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • IT literate including word-processing, spreadsheets, email, internet, CAD and an appreciation of business systems eg SAP.
  • Ability to prepare and write reports.
  • Ability to make effective presentations.
  • Ability to solve technical problems.
  • Good people motivational skills.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety.
