An opportunity has arisen for an Alloy Production Planner within the Alloy Plant. This role operates on a day shift rotation and reports to the Alloy Process and Materials Testing Manager.
Main Responsibilities:
- Taking the demand from all internal and external customers.
- Plan production tasks and schedules according to customer orders.
- Blending this into a furnace schedule, considering On Time Delivery, working within laid down scheduling rules in place to maintain critical chemistry requirements.
- Calculating the actual individual melts, whilst achieving cost target and chemistry spec using the Optimat system.
- Creating a production forecast plan, enabling the Management team to determine capacity and weekend requirements.
- Issuing daily furnace schedules and melts to the shop floor and chemistry lab.
- Maintain reports for production planning activities and sequences.
- Confirming after the melt is complete that all the correct elements and specific batches have been used.
- Updating the inventories of virgin material, revert, QL and Melt revert following their consumption into melts.
- Maintain records at month end on capacity utilization, tonnage, and various material usage spreadsheets.
- Issuing month end reports on revert balances.
- Managing revert outplant activities with the raw material buyer.
- Liaising with Managers & Supervisors to ensure adequate resource available for revert cleaning to meet the schedule.
- Work in collaboration with the Sales Manager to meet the scheduled demand for revert imports for on time scheduling.
- Lead the Planning meetings, ensuring the schedule and planning sheet is completed in time for pre-read.
- Participate as a member in the Daily Management meetings to ensure issues associated with delivery/OTD schedules are communicated such as chemistries required for material release.
- Develop and review production plan with Managers for approval.
- Monitor the execution of production plan and resolve any potential issues in a timely fashion.
- Raise melt jackets & production tickets for each heat.
- Analyze back orders, current orders and upcoming orders to prioritize, plan, and schedule the production operations.
- Provide back-up to stores booking in system/daily usages.
- Provide back-up for shipping.
Qualifications:
- Strong educational background, with knowledge of maths and chemistry considered an advantage.
- Effective communication skills.
- High accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience with planning processes and tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Proficient computer skills, including Oracle, Optimat, or similar planning and calculation systems.
- Manufacturing planning experience, particularly in calculating melt recipes, is highly preferred.
