We are appointing a Deputy Managing Director to play a central role in leading the business day-to-day while driving execution, performance, and growth. This is a high-impact leadership role suited to someone who combines strategic judgement with delivery focus and who is equally comfortable setting direction and stepping in to ensure results are achieved. The Deputy Managing Director will work closely with the Managing Director to translate priorities into action, maintain operational momentum, and support the next phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive execution of business strategy, ensuring priorities are delivered at pace and to a high standard
  • Lead day-to-day business operations, maintaining oversight across teams, performance, and risk
  • Provide leadership to senior team members, setting clear expectations and holding teams accountable
  • Act as a key escalation point for complex client and operational matters
  • Identify and convert commercial opportunities, contributing directly to revenue growth
  • Build and maintain senior client relationships
  • Strengthen systems, processes, and delivery consistency across the business

Expected Impact

  • Establishing clear operational cadence and performance visibility across all functions
  • Improving delivery consistency and proactively reducing execution risk
  • Contributing to sustained revenue growth through conversion of new and existing opportunities
  • Increasing leadership accountability, with clearer ownership of outcomes across teams
  • Removing operational friction to enable more efficient and scalable delivery
  • Strengthening client relationships, reflected in repeat work and positive feedback
  • Enabling the Managing Director to focus more consistently on strategic priorities

Performance Expectations

This role will suit individuals who are accustomed to operating at a consistently high level and have experience and depth in a consulting environment. For example, the successful candidate will:

  • Take ownership of outcomes and follow through without reliance on direction or escalation
  • Focus on commercial priorities, costs and risks to the business, as well as key and client deliverables whilst having oversight of matters, leaders, high performance and exceptional client experience
  • Maintain oversight across multiple priorities without loss of pace or quality
  • Intervene early and effectively where delivery risks emerge
  • Deliver measurable improvements in performance, efficiency, or revenue
  • Operate with sound judgement in high-pressure or ambiguous situations
  • Set clear expectations for others and address underperformance directly and constructively

Fit Indicators / Signals of Success

  • Having a commercial and client experience focus, whilst identifying clear systems, needs and pathways for scale and business growth
  • Having previously led or significantly influenced business performance (eg improving delivery outcomes, scaling operations, or driving commercial growth)
  • Demonstrating deep commercial and consulting experience
  • Being trusted to operate as a de facto second-in-command or senior escalation point in complex environments
  • Taking ownership beyond defined remit, stepping in where required to ensure outcomes are delivered
  • Demonstrating consistent follow-through on strategic priorities, translating plans into tangible results
  • Operating effectively in environments with competing demands, ambiguity, and high expectations
  • Building credibility quickly with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Building and developing new business
  • Leaving previous roles with more structure, clarity, and performance discipline than they inherited

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a commercially minded and delivery-focused leader who:

  • Has significant experience in a senior leadership role, ideally within professional services or consulting
  • Has a strong track record of owning business performance and delivering results
  • Is confident leading both strategy and execution, with the ability to move between both seamlessly
  • Brings proven experience in business development, client engagement, and revenue growth
  • Can lead and align multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Is decisive, organised, and comfortable operating under pressure
  • Communicates with clarity and credibility at senior levels

What We Offer

A senior leadership role with real influence over business performance and direction. The opportunity to play a key role in the company’s growth and development. Hybrid working (Monday & Wednesday in office, one other office day, two remote days). Competitive salary, benefits, and discretionary bonus.
