An independent accountancy firm is looking to add an experienced Senior Accountant to its growing team. This is a varied role within a smaller practice, offering the chance to work closely with clients and Partners rather than being restricted to one area of accounts. Alongside your core accounts responsibilities, there will be opportunities to gain exposure to tax, management accounting and wider advisory work. The role will involve managing a portfolio of clients while getting involved across a broad range of work. You will have plenty of autonomy, with direct access to the Partners and the opportunity to take on additional responsibility as your experience develops.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing a varied portfolio of clients
  • Preparing statutory accounts and year-end accounts
  • Preparing corporation tax computations and supporting personal tax work
  • Producing management accounts and financial information for clients
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients
  • Reviewing work and supporting more junior members of the team
  • Helping clients with day-to-day accounting queries
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and the service provided
  • Working closely with the Partners on more complex assignments
  • Building your knowledge across accounts, tax and advisory services

The successful Senior Accountant will have:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified, or nearing qualification
  • Previous UK accountancy practice experience
  • Experience managing a portfolio of clients
  • Strong accounts knowledge
  • Good understanding of corporation tax, with personal tax exposure advantageous
  • An interest in developing management accounting skills
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills
  • Good attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Confident using Excel and able to pick up new software
  • A proactive and hands-on approach
  • Comfortable working independently within a small team
  • Keen to develop their career and broaden their experience
