What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Take ownership of a broad and varied caseload of private client matters, including: wills, estate planning, and wealth preservation strategies; probate and estate administration; trust creation, structuring, and ongoing management; lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection matters.
- Deliver clear, pragmatic, and commercially astute legal advice tailored to each client’s circumstances.
- Confidently handle complex, high-value, and sensitive matters with minimal supervision.
- Build and nurture long-term client relationships, consistently delivering an exceptional standard of client care.
- Supervise, mentor, and support the development of junior solicitors, trainees, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Play an active role in business development, including networking, building professional connections, and contributing to marketing initiatives.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory, legal, and professional standards at all times.
- Contribute to the strategic direction and growth of the Private Client Department, bringing ideas and insight to drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain meticulous file management, time recording, and billing in line with firm policies and procedures.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as required by your Line Manager or Director.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales, with significant post-qualification experience (typically 5-8 years PQE) in wills, probate and trusts.
- STEP qualification (or working towards) is highly desirable.
- A proven track record of independently managing a complex and varied caseload.
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine commitment to delivering client-focused solutions.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or developing junior team members.
- Demonstrable involvement in business development and networking activities.
- A high degree of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
- The ability to perform effectively under pressure, managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.
