Howdens is recruiting for an Inbound Logistics Planner to join our Supply Planning team. This role plays a key part in keeping our inbound supply chain running smoothly across multiple sites.

Location: Howden, East Yorkshire

Contract: Full‑time, permanent

Reporting to: Inbound Freight Manager

  • Part of a team managing a high-volume, global inbound network across multiple countries and transport modes
  • Central to maintaining an efficient, resilient supply chain, especially within customs and Ex Works operations

  • Develop skills in SAP, customs processes, and supply chain planning within a busy, supportive team
  • Gain exposure to end-to-end inbound logistics operations, working with freight partners, suppliers, and site teams

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate inbound deliveries into multiple PDC locations to ensure a consistent and efficient flow of goods
  • Work closely with freight partners and suppliers to schedule and manage inbound bookings
  • Manage delivery documentation and customs paperwork, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely system input
  • Input and maintain accurate delivery data within SAP
  • Act as a key point of contact for suppliers, resolving booking slot queries and managing changes
  • Liaise with site logistics and receiving teams to align on capacity, scheduling, and operational processes
  • Monitor supplier compliance against delivery slots and escalating issues where required
  • Support inbound forecasting and help balance capacity, cost, and service levels
  • Work cross‑functionally with Supply Planning, Category, Manufacturing, and site teams
  • Handle a high-volume workload, including hundreds of weekly deliveries and booking slots across multiple sites and countries

Qualifications

  • Natural problem solver with ability to find solutions in a constantly changing supply chain environment
  • Experience working within a logistics, supply chain, or planning role
  • Working knowledge of SAP and experience managing or inputting logistics data
  • Understanding of customs clearance processes and associated documentation
  • Strong organisational skills, with ability to prioritise workload and manage competing demands
  • Confident communicator, able to build relationships with suppliers, freight partners, and internal stakeholders
  • High attention to detail, particularly when managing documentation and compliance requirements
  • Comfortable making decisions that balance service, cost, and operational constraints
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams while also managing your own workload
