Howdens is recruiting an Electrical Engineer to support facilities at our Runcorn manufacturing site. This is a key role in ensuring that site facilities, electrical systems and associated services operate safely, efficiently and in full compliance. You’ll combine hands‑on electrical engineering with facilities maintenance, contractor management and compliance oversight, playing a vital part in supporting a high‑performing, safety‑first manufacturing environment.

Location: Runcorn

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (day shifts), with flexibility to work occasional weekends as required.

Base Salary: £51,085.84 per annum

Reporting to: Facilities Manager

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned, preventative, and reactive electrical maintenance across site services, equipment and utilities.
  • Diagnose electric faults, complete root‑cause analysis to identify and implement long term corrective actions.
  • Support site compliance activities, management of documentation and remedial works.
  • Support the ongoing maintenance of site facilities, including lighting, power distribution, access systems, water systems and building fabric.
  • Monitor and maintain facilities systems to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and internal standards.
  • Manage contractor control, permit to work processes, audits, workplace inspections, and the coordination of external service providers.
  • Support and drive project work, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance, production and engineering teams to drive safe, reliable site operations.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and associated packages.
  • Experience and knowledge of computerised maintenance management systems.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical maintenance for plant and site utilities.
  • CompEX Certified.
  • Experience in permit writing and contractor management.
  • Strong understanding of safe systems of work, risk assessments, and permit to work processes.
