This is an exciting time to join our Cloud Operations Team as we enhance and invest further in Cloud technologies
We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Cloud Operations Engineer to join our Cloud Operations team. You’ll be instrumental in the day-to-day management, optimisation, and support of our Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.
You’ll help ensure our cloud services are secure, available, and aligned with governance and best practice—supporting everything from identity management to cost optimisation, policy enforcement, and user experience monitoring.
What you will be doing as a Cloud Support Engineer:
- Take ownership of users’ issues and identifying appropriate solutions to resolve service incidents and requests.
- Act as a liaison both between Cloud Service Providers (Azure) and Howdens, as well as stakeholders and development teams.
- Take personal accountability for our cloud platforms so that they remain available, secure and performant.
- Create, maintain, administer, and enhance cloud platforms, supporting secure and scalable environments to satisfy both operational, governance, product, and customer needs.
- Working closely with the Cloud Engineering team and Architecture team.
- Implement and enforce cloud governance policies, including security, compliance, and cost controls
- Manage and support identity, access, and authentication services (e.g., Entra ID, MFA, Conditional Access)
- Collaborate with internal teams to manage service lifecycle, change, and incident processes
- Automate and provide analytics on day-to-day operational aspects of our cloud platforms.
- Manage and maintain cost-effective Cloud subscriptions, licenses, and platform across multiple Tenants and Regions.
- Support the BAU schedule of all product changes within the Cloud Platform in collaboration with related leadership and operational teams.
- Support monitoring, alerting and Cloud landscape health.
- To present to and provide expert advice to both technical staff and management on cloud technology and design decisions
Broad experience within the Cloud Technologies and Platforms, including but not limited to:
- Experience of identity as a control plane.
- Entra and Active Directory (Identity Management, Service Principles, Security Groups, Role Management, MFA)
- Ability to manage permissions, monitor performance and optimise services across Microsoft Azure and M365 platforms
- Understanding or working knowledge of FinOps concepts and practices
- Azure DevOps
- M365 tenant administration including PowerApps, SharePoint Online and Power BI
- Key Vaults
- Subscription Management (Resource Groups, cost management)
- Cloud Monitoring
