Howdens are looking for a Bench Joiner/Shopfitter to join our product development team in Howden, East Yorkshire. You will be delivering prototype display builds and assessments along with exhibition stand layouts, showcasing the Howdens Joinery product portfolio and new conceptual developments, at both on‑site and off‑site locations. Reporting to the Display Build Supervisor, you must plan and organise your workload to ensure stakeholders’ requirements are met within the requested timescale. This is a fast‑paced changing environment where you will work with key stakeholders across all levels of the business, so the ability to communicate and relay information with accuracy and clarity is key.

What will I be doing as a Bench Joiner?

  • Support the Display Build Supervisor in executing prototype display and event build projects, ensuring on‑time and in‑full delivery
  • Support the wider team in delivering key growth and innovation initiatives across the business
  • Assemble kitchen and joinery products with precision and quality
  • Collaborate with design, technical, and project management teams to ensure alignment across all project phases
  • Review technical drawings and manage materials to ensure smooth and accurate project execution
  • Maintain a strong focus on Health & Safety for both workshop activities and project builds
  • Conduct inspections of plant, tools, and machinery to ensure safe operation
  • Work closely with external partners and suppliers to deliver projects to specification and quality standards

What do I need to qualify for this role?

  • Proven experience in the woodworking and joinery trade
  • Background in shopfitting and event build construction
  • Skilled in kitchen fitting, with a strong eye for detail and finish
  • Expertise in bespoke bench joinery and high‑quality carpentry
  • Confident in setting out builds and space planning for events and installations
  • Competent in the safe use of machinery, including panel saws and a wide range of handheld tools
  • Kitchen, joinery industry and other building trade related experience
  • A full UK driving licence
